夏休み中に自主制作として取り組んだ銅版画作品「Rhino Tech」が、栃木県芸術祭美術展（洋画部門）で入賞しました。
本作は、架空の世界ののどかな草原を、巨大なロボットサイと、その開発者である老人が並んで散歩する情景として描いたものです。ロボットサイは老人の歩みに合わせてゆっくりと進み、ギコギコとかすかに響く金属音と、草原を渡る風の音が重なり合い、静かで平和な田舎の時間が流れていきます。力強い機械仕掛けの造形と穏やかな自然、そして二者のあいだに生まれる温かな関係性を、銅版画ならではの線表現と陰影で表現しました。とくに、のどかでゆったりとした時の流れを感じられる作品となるよう心がけました。
My copperplate print, “Rhino Tech,” which I created as a self-directed project during the summer break, received an award in the Western Painting category at the Tochigi Prefectural Art Festival.
This work depicts a serene meadow in an imaginary world, where a giant robotic rhinoceros walks alongside its elderly developer. The robot rhino moves slowly to match the pace of the man, and the faint creaking of metal blends with the sound of the wind across the grass, creating a peaceful, tranquil countryside atmosphere. The strong mechanical form of the rhino and the calm natural surroundings, along with the warm relationship between the two, are expressed through the lines and shading unique to copperplate printing. I particularly aimed to convey a gentle, unhurried passage of time in this piece.
